How to Fix 0x803f8001 Windows Store Error

What is 0x803f8001 error?

The 0x803f8001 error is caused when any update is gone wrong. It can be caused by many reasons but keep in mind that Microsoft’s update system is not the smoothest in the market.  So when you try to update an app instead of getting it updated, you get an error code which does not let you update and you are left hanging. This error could happen due to,

How to Fix 0x803f8001 Error on Windows 10/8/7

Well, there is no Microsoft way to solve this error but you can definitely fix it. Before doing anything, I will suggest you Retry the update or download the app again and then run a full system scan.  In case it doesn’t work, just keep reading.

1. Re-register the Store

If retrying updates or downloading again didn’t work, then it might be that the store has lost its connection with the server. This causes miscommunication due to which your updates are left hanging.  You can solve this problem by re-registering your store.  To do so,

  • Press Windows +X  and click on Command Prompt(Admin) to open it as admin.

  • Let the program to execute, restart and retry your updates.

2. Clear Store Cache

If re-registering the store doesn’t work, then try clearing your store’s cache. Caching are used to store temporary data to enable fast browsing and less load time. It does help saving time but can also create errors due to malicious files. Clearing cache will not only remove those file but will also free up some ram. You can clear your cache by,

  • Press Windows+R to open Run, now type in “WSReset.exe” and press Enter.

The error 0x803f800 is often caused due to corrupted files or incomplete updates. It is totally possible that some windows files might not be updated and are causing issues now. You can fix that by updating your windows again.

Using a proxy connection can also cause this error, which is not allowing the store to download updates due to security reasons.  Turning off your Proxy connection will immediately fix the problem. This can be done through Internet Properties Windows. To access that,

  • Press Windows + R and type in “inetcpl.cpl” , then press Enter.

  • Now go to Connections -> LAN Settings.

  • In the Proxy Server section, make sure that Use a proxy server for your LAN is unchecked.

5. Use DISM Tool

The DISM or Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool is mostly used to solve these type of problems. It is a built-in Windows tool, so it is really easy to use as well. To use this tool,

  • Open Command Prompt as admin by pressing Windows + X.

  • Now type in” dism.exe/online/Cleanup-Image/StartComponentGroup” and Press Enter.

This will solve the issue totally.
