Multi-core CPUs and SSDs see prices drop following release of new quad core chips
Intel is to make a slew of price cuts to some of its multi-core processors and solid state disks.
According to the Inquirer, the price of the Core 2 Quad Q9300 has been reduced by nearly 20 per cent to $213, while the Q9550S and Q9400S have been cut down to $320 and $270 respectively.
Three of Intel’s dual core CPUs have seen a price cut of around ten per cent, with the Core 2 Duo SU9400 now costing $262 while the Q9300 and Q9550S have both been reduced to $284.
Meanwhile, VR-Zone claims that Intel is to cut prices of its SSDs. The 80-gigabyte versions of the X18-M and X25-M will see their prices dropped to $335 while 160-gigabyte versions are to be cut down to $660.
The price cuts follow the release of Intel’s latest quad core CPUs, the Q8400 and the Q8400S.
