Gdrive to offer users virtualised hard drive storage, but privacy campaigners attack plans
Google is believed to be preparing the launch of its latest technology initiative that has the potential to replace the hard drive on all devices in the near future.
According to reports, the service dubbed Gdrive would be free and would be tied into the search giant's Gmail system, in theory allowing any internet enabled device to act as a computer.
It is also thought that the service would be powerful enough to allow the remote running of applications, as well as eventually a Google operating system.
However, the system has come under attack from privacy campaigners who have raised concerns over the security of such a large amount of data – both private and commercial – being stored online.
