Microsoft lifts limits on Windows 7 download

Forthcoming operating system available to everyone for two weeks

After the sheer number of Windows 7 beta downloads crashed the Microsoft site on January 9th, the firm has scrapped limits on the amount of copies can be downloaded.

According to the BBC, the unlimited download will be available for two weeks.

After the two week period, the limit will be reinstated.

"We would expect a beta to only be of interest to tech-enthused and those that have a vested business interest, to look at an operating system for testing purposes," said Laurence Painell, product manager at Microsoft. “We didn't quite anticipate the demand that we saw.”
