Chip makers stock price rises alongside product launches and a legal victory in Asia

Stock prices in chip maker AMD rose seven per cent yesterday, as it unveiled its new Puma chips and won an important legal case.

Shares rose by 50 cents bringing total share prices up to $7.69.

Yesterday the firm came out on top of a drawn out legal battle with Intel in South Korea, in which the latter was ordered to pay $26 million for unfair practises – vindicating what AMD has been saying for a while.

Rumours suggesting that the firm is making manoeuvres to go ‘asset light’ by greatly lowering capital investments has also boosted investor confidence.
