CES: Intel launch 16 new processors

Vendor shows off its new processors for mobile, servers and desktops.

Intel unveiled 16 new processors, all constructed on the company’s 45nm node, at the Consumer Electronics Show at the weekend. Four of the processors are server chips, five are mobile chips, and the remaining seven are reserved for desktops. The chips are said to offer lower power consumption and higher performance.

Included in the announcement are Intel’s first 45nm chips for its Centrino platform, which are 25 per cent smaller than previous models.

Asus and Foxconn roadmaps indicate Apple will announce a new portable PC that will be based on these mobile processors.

Intel’s three new quad-core chips are due for release some time in the first quarter.
