Research from DisplaySearch suggested nine out of ten notebooks 'Made in Taiwan'

According to the latest figures from market research firm DisplaySearch, a total of 89 per cent of all laptops are made in Taiwan.

It found that 89 per cent of the 29 million notebooks that were shipped last year, originated in Taiwan, thanks in part to HP, Dell, Acer, Apple and Acer Gateway outsourcing 100 per cent of their production to ODMs.

Quanta is the world's largest manufacturer, producing 34 per cent of all laptops last year. Compal came second with 24 per cent and Wistron came third with 13 per cent.
