WEEE gains new board of advisors

13 specialists from various sectors are set to advise on WEEE system

Last night the government drew back the curtain on the WEEE Advisory Board; 13 specialists who are tasked with providing independent advice on the development of the WEEE regulations.

Those representing the IT industry includes environmental take back compliance manager at HP, Kirstie McIntyre, chairman and managing director at Computer Remarketing Services, Terry Maguire, and head of corporate environmental affairs at Fujitsu Services, Joy Boyce.

"Since the UK adopted the WEEE directive a great deal has been achieved by making sure more waste is collected for treatment and recovery," said Malcolm Wicks, minister for energy.


"The establishment of the advisory body will ensure we receive expert advice and to help us build on this initial success. I very much look forward to working with the board in the future."

The board were effective as of December 1st and are appointed for between two and three years.
