iPod sales reach 100 million mark

Record breaking sales make it the fastest selling music player in history, says Apple.
The California based firm has launched more than ten new models of its iconic MP3 player since the first hit the market in November 2001.
Apple’s current range consists of the iPod, iPod Nano and iPod Shuffle. For many retailers the 4,000 or so compatible accessories that have emerged from a host of vendors have proved just as lucrative as the music players themselves.
"At this historic milestone, we want to thank music lovers everywhere for making iPod such an incredible success," said Apple CEO Steve Jobs. "iPod has helped millions of people around the world rekindle their passion for music, and we’re thrilled to be a part of that."
