ATI impairment charge cited for loss

AMD reported a record loss of $1.77 billion for the fourth quarter, although the bulk of the figure is due to the impairment charge following its purchase of graphics card maker, ATI.

The net charges for the quarter were at $1.68 billion, meaning that a non-GAAP operating income loss was at just $9 million; a huge improvement on the $148 million loss reported in the third quarter.
